8 Mile

No I'm not Eminem Fort Worth Texas. Just sitting here celebrating a weight loss challenge. As of today, I have eight miles into my job challenge. I promise I'll be running like those guys that I see on Sunday one day. What am I talking about?

Every Sunday these three guys pass by the bus pass on their run. Every Sunday I wish I was these fellas. Well I wish I was running. I don't know if it's because I have the need to run in a pack or the need to just have the ability to run.

I know that in the past that I wasn't a very good runner. I have the great ability for hikes, walks, and dancing. I just became a dorky looking when I tried to take off on a sprint. I just seemed like I couldn't put one foot in front of the other correctly.

So one of my weight loss and health goals is to be able to run a 14 minute mile around Fort Worth, Texas. I may never become civil servant but damn I want the ability to save a person if I have to. There is nothing wrong with wanting your body in optimal performance.

So there it is. If I'm not doing 45 minute 3 mile runs by next Summer, you have the right to track me down and tear into me like a drill Sargent.

Took the long way home in Fort Worth Texas

Usually on Friday mornings, I head to the local check cashing spot in Fort Worth, Texas. Then I jump on the bus and head home. I had a lot of energy today. I decided to take the long way home. I walked the five blocks. At 8 a.m. in the morning, I already had sweat pouring from my pores. It feels good to cram activity into whatever space I can on a busy day.

What was my healthy eating plan for the day?

Dinner
Apple
Banana
Coffee with 4 creamer cups and equal

Snack
Serving of baby carrots and a serving of ranch dressing

Lunch
4 ounces of grilled chicken
1 cup of cauliflower
1 Tbsp of cream cheese
1 Tbsp of sour cream

Snack
Serving of green grapes
Cheese stick

Breakfast
4 ounces of grilled beef
1/4 cup of baked beans
1/2 large potato
1 Tbsp of sour cream

Walking and weight loss

I wonder if can count my patrols as exercise for my weight loss program. I don't usually walk very fast but I am walking constantly. On the job, I have to do a new patrol every fifteen minutes. My patrol consists of four buildings and the inside of one building.

This week I'll be doing this kind of patrol eleven days straight. Normally I work two days sentry and then 28 hours on patrol. I really do prefer to be on patrol. The activity makes the time go by faster. Plus I like the fact that I'm doing something active.

How are my workouts going?

I still have to baby my left foot. The arch of the foot is still sore. I did go out and buy a pair of new shoes. By the time 6 a.m. comes around, my feet are dog tired though. I have a feeling that the usual pain is from having 200 extra pounds on my feet. I don't think that Dr. Scholls could even fix that pain.

I've been really tired from working the extra hours. I still trying to get my wall push ups done at work. The rest of the stuff is going to have to wait a week. I don't think I'm going to ruin my body too much by taking a week off from a heavy work out.

One thing that I have learned from my adventures in weight loss is that good footing is really important.

This weeks weight loss physical training report

Well I went to the doctors about my feet. So it seems that my achilles tendon tightened up on itself because of bad arch support and bad walking shoes. So I have to heat and ice it every 15 minutes for an hour. Roll my arch on a tennis ball and go through acupressure sessions. Though my feet were killing me...I did get my upper body and core training done with some moderation.
Ta da daaaaa....I'm down a shirt size and two size on my pants. Well actually if I don't count my belly and let them hang at the hips, I'm down 5 pant sizes.
Protean, vegetables, fruits, and natural fats like avocados/nuts are doing the body good!

Work Out Report

What is it week 45 or 46?. The weeks have seemed to mess together. No weight loss this week. I'm not surprised though. The pulled muscle that I had been babying has turned out to be a torn tendon. I've been put on bed rest for the week.
So this means I have to be extra careful on my eating. Maybe get some leg weights to do exercises in bed. I can always do bicep curls, tricep extensions, and military presses in bed.
yeah...being forced to rest is going to drive me crazy

Another Weight Loss Work Out Report

God what a horrible week. It just seemed like everything snowballed on me emotionally. I was good for about 3 days. The I couldn't walk as fast as I could. I've been spending the past five days trying to pop my right ankle. It just feels compacted. Only painful pressure when I step on it a certain way.
It's been such a bad week. That I'm not even taking my measurements and stepping on the scale. It can wait until next Wednesday.
On the note of fitness. I have a friend who is doing a water/bike triad. Yeah my spirit is green with envy.

Decent weight loss report

Well it's week two of my training and weight loss. I had to take the last day off to recover. I was just feeling drained, sore, and full of aches. It's only week two, so I'm sure my body is still screaming "What the hell are you doing to me?"
Maybe not enough water and too much diet soda.
Sadly...only 1 pound gone this week. I have to remember that with the push ups, squats, stairs, etc that the muscle is going to be growing under the fat. That's just fine. I don't mind being a size 14 with sexy legs and arms. Yeah I said 14. My ancestors made sure that we would always have thunder thighs and big hips.

Hitting the streets March 8th, 2014

At 525, there is not much I can do. So for my Weight Loss Work Out, I decided to hit the streets with my walking shoes. If you are my size and just starting out. I'd like to give you some tips.

Be sure that you stretch
We don't want to tear or twist anything in the foot. A weight loss journey should be a healthy journey in all aspects. It's time to take care of yourself and not beat yourself up. Be sure to flex your feet, stretch your tendons, and warm up those knees.

Have Support
Make sure that you have a good pair of walking shoes. Do your best to only use them for your work outs.

Take it slow
Don't run a marathon on the first day. If you can just walk down the block then walk down the block and back. If you can do half a mile then start with half a mile.

Today I started with a mile walk. That was a half mile up my street and then a half mile back. I eventually would like to attend a 3 day fight cancer walk. I think the goal is to raise $3000 per person.
